Here we have quite possibly one of my most favorite Desktop images. I don't know who the artist is that Namco employs for this kind of work, but...holy jeebus, I love them :)

This would be a Pair of F-14 Tomcats from VF-108 WARDOGS, a fighter wing stationed at the fictional Sand Island base in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War.

I designated them VF-108, because to this day, I have yet to find a single mission that can't be tackled by one of the US Navy Fighters in the game :)

Props to the original artist[s] whoever they may be!

A great aircraft that should not have been retired without an equivalent or better replacement. I like the F/A 18E, but it's not a TRUE Fleet Defense Fighter. By the way, your right about the Navy’s aircraft completing every mission (I.E. The F-14D would be the perfect aircraft for a real world mission of White Bird II). I have had a bias toward American aircraft in the entire Air/Ace Combat series. I can personally brag that I've beaten every mission in every game (except AC3, its not in that one) with my favorite aircraft: The F-4 Phantom II.

I know right! I love this picture. I wish I could find out who did the promotional artwork for the Ace Combat Series and see if they have a website featuring thier artwork.
